Description
Cuckolds Lighthouse in Southport, Maine, is bathed in the warm glow of the morning sun as pastel colored clouds pass overhead. Cuckolds light was built in 1892 to mark two rocky islets that posed problems for ships entering Boothbay. In 1907 a fourth order Fresnel lens was installed, and in 1974 the lighthouse was decommissioned. The lighthouse was transferred to a local preservation group in 2006, and in 2014 the lighthouse was restored and the keeper's house, which had been demolished in 1974, was rebuilt. it remains an active aid to navigation.
